Growing up bilingual, Yamila Castro has always believed that nurturing primary language acquisition is the best tool to be successful at learning a second language. Her experiences growing up in a multicultural environment taught her the importance of self-identity and embracing one’s roots. The Hispanic culture and family values have been the inspiration for her poems.
